MTBE is a gasoline additive used as an oxygenate to raise the octane number which is found in many fuels such as VP Fuel's such as MS103, MS109, VP113, and many more. Due to recent laws and regulations implemented over the years because of the controversial effects, especially because of it's solubility in water ultimately contaminating the ground water, MTBE has been banned from use in many fuels and accelerants alike.

What does this mean for those of you who utilize the fuel blends containing the MTBE additive?

The guys over at Vinny Ten Racing were nice enough to demonstrate the difference in power this 2011 Subaru WRX STI made on the dyno with VP Fuels MS109 vs MS109E. MS109 contains MTBE, MS109E is oxygenated with Ethanol.
